Qatar Sustainability Primer

Qatar Sustainability Primer

Qatar Sustainability Primer serves as an expansive introduction to the crucial subject of sustainability within the State of Qatar.

In recent years, the international community has coalesced around unified strategies to combat global warming and the escalation of CO2 emissions. In alignment with this global directive, the United Nations has established the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which each nation is encouraged to fulfill. For proactive nations such as Qatar, the objective is to achieve "net zero" carbon emissions by 2050, establishing interim targets such as a 25% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, pursuant to the Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV2030). Confronted with geopolitical, public health, and demographic challenges, the commitment to sustainability often emerges as a universally accepted goal among nations, despite the complexity of the issues at hand.

Our planet's welfare is a collective responsibility; to endeavor merely to preserve its natural splendor is to acknowledge our foundational duty as its stewards. Embracing the sustainability challenge with earnestness entails a comprehensive understanding of the present deficiencies and a strategic approach towards bridging these gaps.

It is with this foresight that the authors aim to cultivate a verdant legacy for the generations that will inherit our world.

The Qatar Sustainability Primer was created by Giorgio Torre and S.M.H. Al Marri.
