Saudi ESG KPI Explorer

Introduction

Saudi ESG KPI Explorer is a free, open-access web dashboard designed to help sustainability professionals, ESG analysts, and corporate teams in Saudi Arabia explore, understand, and structure operational ESG metrics relevant to their industry. Built entirely on public frameworks — including GRI, TCFD, ISSB, and SASB materiality maps — and aligned with the priorities of Saudi Vision 2030, the tool offers a structured, sector-specific view of ESG performance indicators without assessing, rating, or benchmarking any organisation.

Saudi ESG KPI Explorer: What Is It About?

The Saudi ESG KPI Explorer addresses a practical gap that sustainability teams in the Kingdom face daily: there is no centralised, locally contextualised reference for operational ESG metrics. Most global ESG frameworks are broad by design, leaving companies — especially those in sectors like construction, energy, logistics, manufacturing, and financial services — to interpret and adapt metrics on their own. This tool does that interpretive work for them, organising metrics by sector and mapping each one to the relevant international reporting frameworks. It is not a rating platform, not a scoring system, and not affiliated with any company or regulator. It is purely informational and educational.

What Does It Exactly Do?

The dashboard is organised across six pages. The Overview page presents a high-level summary of the 93 operational ESG metrics covered, broken down by Environmental, Social, and Governance dimensions. The ESG Metrics by Sector page — the core of the tool — allows users to filter metrics by sector and view sector-specific KPIs in structured tables, each showing the metric name, unit of measurement, operational area, and typical data source. The Framework Mapping page cross-references each metric against GRI, TCFD, ISSB, and Vision 2030 themes. The Data Maturity View offers a colour-coded matrix indicating data availability, update frequency, and data risk for each metric — reflecting the real operational challenges ESG teams encounter. The Sample KPI Trends page displays 12 months of simulated data across energy, water, and training metrics, clearly labelled as illustrative. Finally, the About & Methodology page contextualises the tool’s purpose and limitations.

Who Is the Audience of the Tool?

The tool is primarily built for sustainability analysts and ESG consultants working with Saudi companies, as well as corporate sustainability teams at the early to mid stages of their ESG reporting journey. It is equally relevant for students, academics, and policy researchers interested in understanding how international ESG frameworks translate into operational metrics in a Gulf context. Given the growing mandatory and voluntary ESG disclosure requirements emerging from the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul), the Capital Market Authority, and Vision 2030 programmes, the tool is well-positioned to serve a wide and growing user base across sectors.

Why Is It Important Now?

Saudi Arabia is at a pivotal moment in its sustainability journey. Vision 2030 has made environmental, social, and governance progress a national strategic priority — from renewable energy targets under NEOM and NEOM-adjacent programmes, to Saudization goals and corporate governance reforms. At the same time, global investors and rating agencies are applying increasing pressure on Gulf companies to disclose credible, comparable, and operationally grounded ESG data. Yet many Saudi organisations — particularly mid-sized firms in construction, logistics, and manufacturing — lack the internal capacity to identify which metrics to track, how to collect them, or how they map to global standards. The Saudi ESG KPI Explorer fills that gap in a lightweight, accessible, and jargon-free format. By offering a locally relevant, sector-specific starting point for ESG metric selection, it empowers teams to move from awareness to action — without waiting for expensive consultants or complex software implementations.

In a region where ESG is transitioning from a compliance checkbox to a genuine strategic lever, tools like the Saudi ESG KPI Explorer represent exactly the kind of practical, open-access infrastructure that the sustainability community needs.
